Cliff Wortes made the world’s largest handmade broom produced by natural fibres at the Factory in 1974.
1974 was a ‘freak’ year for broom millet length, with the millet fibre growing to 1.4 metres. Cliff had to sift through three tonnes of millet in order to select the longest fibres to make the broom.
The world’s biggest broom is 1.06 metres tall, and with the handle attached is taller than the average person.
